Hábitat Argentina + Saint-Gobain: more than painting

One of the most evident characteristics of popular neighborhoods and settlements is to see the houses without any kind of plaster. The brick landscape is not only an aesthetic issue, the lack of coating generates humidity and seepage that affect the health of families.

What is the plaster

The plaster is a coating layer that is applied to all walls on both sides (internal and external). The benefits for the home range from ensuring the durability of the structures, protecting from weather , helping to improve hygienic conditions to improving the home from an aesthetic dimension.

The plaster impacts the health and well-being of the families that live in them, maintaining the thermal and acoustic insulation, which translates into greater comfort ‘, as well as protecting from humidity and leaks. In this way, it contributes to the reduction of respiratory diseases, especially among children and adolescents.

After a  training cycle, with help from  Saint Gobain techniciansandHabitat for Humanity Argentina teams, the neighbors received a set of donated materials made up of 32 bags of 30 kg of “3 in 1” material for plastering. exterior of the Weber brand.

The project included the improvement of a community center. Thanks to this, 100 families who spend every week at the establishment will benefit.

The intervention is part of the Health and Housing project of Habitat for Humanity Argentina. It seeks, through training, a set of materials and socio-technical accompaniment, the improvement of a key aspect of the home. In this way, thousands of families have improved their bathrooms, roofs, electrical installations or, as in this case, the walls of their homes.
