Driven by the vision that every person deserves a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots movement on a community farm in South Georgia, USA. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities in all 50 states in the US and in more than 70 countries.
The owners of a Habitat home are not mere spectators, but rather participate in the solution of their home. Many work with volunteers, use custom credit, or use other methods.
