Neighborhood Development Program

The main objective of this Program is to improve housing and habitat conditions in peripheral areas of urban centers in Argentina. This Program promotes access to adequate housing by involving the families themselves, building their abilities, engaging volunteers, and optimizing existing resources.  Methodologies are constantly being reviewed and improved as we seek to develop construction skills, financial ability, and social stability in families who are the key players in the process.

Urban strategy and rentals

In 2008, Habitat para la Humanidad Argentina transformed an empty, insecure and dilapidated building into an apartment complex where nine families are now renting formally. This apartment complex, known as Estela de Esperanzas (Stream of hope) project, began as a pilot model.  Today, its success encourages us to continue looking for ways to scale up and have more impact to provide access to adequate rentals under fair conditions for the people who need it most.
